Thread starter Aquavit Start date Jul 29, Aquavit New member.

Hello all I have just bought a new to me Golf Mk7 Variant which comes equipped with a Discover Media V1, the Navi software dates from and so I wanted to update to the latest version. This is what I did: Removed the VW labelled SD card and checked the file format MS DOS Fat32 Downloaded the new software version for from the official VW source Copied the existing maps on to my hard drive drag and drop Deleted the old map software titled markets and formatted the SD card Loaded the new maps titled markets by dragging and dropping, it took 20 - 30 minutes to load just under 8Gb Put SD card back in to the car but nothing happens, I get "Please insert a data medium with valid navigation data" I've resorted to putting the old software back on but get the same message as above - so I'm now left with no Navigation function.

Where am I going wrong?? Location North East England. Search forums. Log in. Install the app. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. Thread starter ryananja Start date 15 Jul Tags composition media. I bought a GB SD card in order to load music on it. From Fat to exFat and some Apple ones too. Do you have any advice for me please. Could be a faulty SD card.

Do you have another SD card you can format to prove wether it is the card or the Mac? Even an old fat16 one. Is there a preferred format or specific SD card that works? Hi, just looked in my manual, albeit for another VW vehicle and it says - It is imperative that the card is formatted as a FAT32 partition. Have you formatted it as a FAT32? I have formatted it as FAT I don't have my Golf yet it's a special order I placed just this weekend , but I do work with computers for a living.

Unless the manual specifically says otherwise, I'd stick with FAT for the filesystem. Beyond that, SD cards can be finicky sometimes; you may just need to try another one. Check the manual for any special requirements; there may be restrictions based on capacity, speed, or other technical specs. Also, be aware that there are a lot of junky Chinese knock-offs out there, which often perform poorly.

I recently had to return several USB flash drives to an eBay seller because they didn't work with anything. It's conceivable that one or both of your cards isn't what you believe it to be, which could explain some of your problems. Last edited: Sep 30, JBizz Veteran Member.

My eBay cards work just fine. They do DC every month but that's hasn't happened yet in my car. Drowningape Well-known member.
